Photos from Hong Kong
Seasoned Greetings!
We usually don't send out newsletters so close together, but after the last one several people have asked to see pictures from the Hong Kong trip. Therefore, we thought we'd put together this Special Edition to show off a few select shots that are relevant to things mentioned in the trip report. OK, here we go!
Let's start with a standard nighttime Hong Kong street scene:
Here's the pork pizza that Carol was so excited about:

And now, the famous octopus balls! Bits of octopus and various vegetables folded into a rather sweat dough and cooked in an interesting cast iron mold. Delicious, she says.
This is something else Carol loved -- these bubbly waffles are apparently unique to Hong Kong and are seen at many street stalls. Carol managed to buy one of the waffle irons and lug it home and is working on figuring out the batter recipe.

Let's move onto the factory. We received a nice reception:
Here's an arty shot looking down a short line of injection molders. They have a LOT of these:
And now for the things David was excited about, the tools! Here are all of ours spread out (keep in mind that each one is about 12-18 inches on a side and weighs over 400 pounds):

A closeup of one of the tools. The little triangle shapes are the actual cavities for the parts; all the rest of the steel is there to ensure this will last for 500 years.

And that's it! Carol would have liked to have included several dozen more food shots, and David would happily add numerous more pictures of chunks of steel, but then things would just be ridiculous. We hope you enjoyed these!
Best regards,
Carol and David Peterman
