Refine, refine, refine!

Seasoned Greetings!

When we set out to create the world's best spice storage system, we knew we weren't going to get by with just sending a few back-of-the-napkin sketches to a manufacturer and waiting for the orders to roll in (although from a budget perspective that would be pretty awesome). As we have learned, turning our ideas into reality is a multi-stage refinement process where very subtle changes can yield significant improvements in design and functionality.

Even though we could probably continue to nitpick at things until the end of time, we're happy to report that the latest round of prototypes has allowed us to reach a design that meets all our requirements for going into production! This is officially a big deal because it has enabled us to begin the bidding process with manufacturers; now we get to wait to find out just how much these things are going to cost to produce. Exciting? Yes. Nerve-wracking? You can't imagine.

Meanwhile, we're starting to get things lined up for our debut at the Gourmet Houseware Show in May. It seems like that's still so far away, but a lot of things have to fall into place between now and then, so the time will undoubtedly fly by. We're also planning to attend a similar show in March, just so we can get a feel for what we'll be in for two months later!

We hope everyone enjoyed playing the Spot Carol game discussed in last month's newsletter. But if you missed out, you'll soon have another chance as the game is about to move into Round Two! Starting in February, Carol is going to be spending some time at World Spice, which is on Western Avenue right below Pike Place Market in Seattle. One of our primary goals with our product is to promote the benefit of buying bulk spices, so this little venture will give Carol valuable insight into the market and its customers.

Best regards,
Carol and David Peterman
